Application for contestants: Amateur and Professional Chefs

  Qualifying Rounds - Sunday, August 11, 2013 11:00am to 3:00pm
Championship Round - Saturday, November 23, 2013 10:00am to 5:00pm

ELIGIBILITY:
Contestants ("Cheftestants") be at least 18 years old, of Philippine ancestry and legal residents of the U.S. as of the date of contest entry.
 
PROFESSIONAL Cheftestants:   Must be a:
- professional chef      -      food truck vendor cook   - licensed caterer   
- culinary instructor      -      Culinary school graduate 
or educator

 and currently or had been employed in any of the above capacity

AMATEUR Cheftestants:      Must NOT be:
- a professional chef as defined above
- must not own or engage in a food business that is licensed or accredited by a local government agency, however, may provide catering services as a hobby and not as a source of primary income. 
- For clarity, the Amateur contestant may not be employed in any restaurant as a chef, line cook,  or cook of any capacity.  
  

- Each contestant is required to appear in person and work on-site; no proxy allowed.

- Registered contestants will bring their pre-cooked entry dish during the Qualifying Round for judging.  Expenses on ingredients will be reimbursed upon presentation of receipts, up to $100.00.


- The Championship Round will consist of live on-site cooking competition.  Finalists will cook up to 3 courses on-site.

Qualifying Round:    Pre-Cooked                                        
Cheftestants will serve pre-cooked dishes to the judges.

The top 2 contestants from each of the Professional and Amateur categories will advance to the Championship Round to be held on November 23, 2013.
The San Francisco finalists will be joined by contestants from Los Angeles, Chicago and Honolulu.

Championship Round:  On-site Cook-Off                           
Head-to-head live cooking competition to be held in two stages as the Chefs prepare their take on traditional Filipino dishes and will be judged on taste, creativity and presentation:
(a) Amateur Chefs will prepare one Entrée; and
(b) Professional Chefs will serve up:
     (1) Appetizer, soup or salad 
     (2) Entrée 
     (3) Dessert
